Painting With Fire: Split Complementary Colors

Over a year ago, I was contacted by Barbara Lewis to create a piece for her new book!  Of course I jumped at this opportunity.
Want to order the book? It is now available on the Painting With Fire website.

My assignment was to create a piece using split complementary colors.
Defined as:
Split-Complementary Relationship One hue plus two others equally spaced from its complement.

This was quite a challenge!

Above was my first attempt at creating using split complementary colors.  Not happy with the results so I moved on.

Next I tried a different combination.  I was happy with these colors, now I needed a design for my piece.
I laid out some vintage copper pieces, available on Etsy

After I chose my pieces I decided what color to enamel each piece.  I ended up using my "experiment" piece in my final necklace.

So what does the final piece look like?
Notice anything different from the design I started with?

  1. Great job! I'm tempted to change out the photos and repost on my blog! Beautiful piece, sister! Aren't we blessed?
